SUPERVISOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION: COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent New York State teaching certificate in Special Education and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA) New York State School District Leader (SDL), New York State School Building Leader (SBL), New York State School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certificate or new New York State Administrator certification. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Candidates with prior experience in an urban school district with a large racially and ethnically diverse population are preferred. Knowledge of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, Part 200 Students with Disabilities required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor all requirements and actions related to the Committee on Special Education process for both building and central staffAudit compliance with Part 200 RegulationsMonitor input into Frontline IEPMeet with CSE chairs to review caseloadsMonitor MDR TeamMonitor referral, classification and suspension ratesProvide supports to teachers on the CSE process and requirementsAssist in the planning and implementation of the Division of Special Education’s professional development programComplete school visits to monitor the implementation of Part 200 RegulationsAssist in the Budget processConduct APPRsAny tasks deemed necessary and appropriateAPPOINTMENT Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, evaluation of service, program needs, and personal interview.
