About the role
Design Engineer Tillage Equipment Tipton, KSGreat Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Tillage Equipment R&D Team in Tipton, KS to bring technical aptitude in developing agricultural equipment and to bring innovation to agriculture globally. This is an on-site position based in Tipton, KS that works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Design tillage equipment and related electronic components. Create detailed drawings, bill of materials, test plans, etc. Utilize analysis software, evaluate field testing and recommend design modifications to optimize product designs. Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and supply management to ensure product is fabricated, welded and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design. Produce and/or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment. Other duties may be assigned that require additional qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural or Bio Systems Machinery Engineering, or related engineering discipline from a four-year college or university. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Proficient with PRO-E, Solid Works, CREO or similar programs as well as FEA software, Word, Excel, and Power Point Working knowledge of farming practices and equipment Understanding of manufacturing methods and processes Hydraulic and electronic integration skills a plus Great Plains Manufacturing, headquartered in Salina, KS, is a proud subsidiary of Kubota with more than 50 years as a Kansas leader in the design, engineering and manufacturing of agricultural implements, including seeding, tillage, and landscaping equipment.
