Field Service Technician - Commercial Entry Systems
About the Role: As a Field Service Technician specializing in commercial entry systems, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and complex repair of industrial doors, loading dock equipment, and automated access hardware. You will serve as a technical expert in the field, ensuring that all client facilities remain secure, operational, and compliant with safety standards.
Responsibilities: Execute precise installations and troubleshooting of commercial door systems, dock levelers, and high-performance hardware. Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, performing component-level repairs on springs, closers, and access control systems. Configure low-voltage systems and electronic entry hardware to meet specific facility security requirements. Validate that all site work adheres to rigorous building codes and safety regulations. Deliver professional consultations to clients, explaining technical findings and recommending cost-effective, long-term solutions. Document service activities, repair logs, and installation data to maintain accurate facility maintenance records. Perform comprehensive quality assurance testing on all completed projects to ensure peak performance and reliability.
Required Skills: High school diploma or equivalent.
4+ years of hands‑on experience in commercial door or industrial equipment maintenance. Proficiency with hand and power tools, including the ability to read tape measures and perform precise calculations. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems. Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied field environments. Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and motor vehicle screenings.
Preferred Skills: Active AAADM certification.
Experience with welding and metal fabrication. Background in low-voltage cabling or electronic access control integration. Strong interpersonal skills for client-facing service environments.
