About the role
- Own the full electrical project lifecycle from initial design, scoping, and budgeting through installation, documentation, and closeout
- Design and implement electrical and control systems for process equipment, packaging equipment, palletizing robots, and facility infrastructure
- Support and maintain high-voltage infrastructure
- Act as the primary technical resource for production departments, providing expert-level troubleshooting for electrical, PLC, and control system failures
- Troubleshoot MCCs, control panels, SCADA systems, and automated manufacturing systems
- Maintain rigorous documentation of plant electrical schematics and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, Chicago Electrical Code, FDA, and SQF standards
- Prepare electrical capital budgets, material specifications, RFQs, and BOMs for vendor bidding
- BS in Electrical Engineering is required or an equivalent of 10+ years of hands-on electrical project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing electrical engineering experience; must have design, controls and project engineering experience
- Hands-on electrical design required including drawings, system scoping, sizing, and calculations
- Engineering leadership experience is a plusPLC and controls familiarity required; must be able to hook up, program, and troubleshoot at a working level
- Experience with high-voltage systems including 13.8kV, 480V distribution, MCCs, and control panels
- Electrical license or PE license is a plus but not required
- Must have manufacturing experience from any industry, prefer foods, baking, chemicals, packaging, or other complex industrial environments
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70, Chicago Electrical Code, FDA, and SQF standards preferred
