Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to provide therapeutic radiation oncology services at BAMC. The Technologist will administer prescribed radiation treatments, accurately position and monitor patients, operate linear accelerators and imaging systems, support IGRT/IMRT and HDR brachytherapy treatments, maintain treatment records, and perform daily equipment quality-assurance testing.
Key Duties:
Administer complex radiation treatments using computer-controlled linear accelerators. - Support IGRT, IMRT, and HDR brachytherapy treatments. - Accurately position and immobilize patients for treatment. - Use kV imaging, OBI, OSMS, laser alignment, and CT-based simulation techniques. - Configure treatment fields, gantry/collimator settings, and beam-modification devices. - Verify treatment time, monitor units, and treatment settings before delivery. - Monitor patients during treatment and respond appropriately to emergencies. - Observe and report treatment-related changes such as skin reactions, weight loss, neurological symptoms, or other signs of toxicity. - Maintain complete treatment records, including machine settings, cumulative dose, and portal imaging. - Use Varian ARIA and applicable MHS systems for clinical documentation. - Educate patients regarding treatment procedures, skin care, and other treatment-related instructions. - Perform daily quality-assurance testing of Varian radiation therapy linear accelerators, MLC, and EPID systems. - Assist with clinical procedures and provide radiation therapy education to patients and staff as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
Certificate from a JRCERT-accredited Radiation Therapy program. No education equivalency substitution is permitted. Registration: Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.
Licensure: Current, active, valid, and unrestricted Texas Medical Board license.
Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
