Education and Required SkillsBachelors’ degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in journalism, with a focus on digital news production and editorial management. Proven track record of leading and managing a news team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong editorial judgment and decision-making skills, with a deep understanding of news values and journalistic ethics. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as their respective audience demographics. Experience with content management systems, SEO best practices, and web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics. Ability to develop and manage budgets, editorial plans, and content calendars. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt and respond to rapidly changing news developments and industry trends. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily news operation, ensuring editorial consistency and excellence across desks, formats and platforms. Manage the daily editorial workflow, including scheduling, assignments, and production timelines across formats and platforms. Work closely with senior management to shape the company’s editorial agenda, tone, voice, coverage priorities and long-term strategy. Contribute to strategic planning to improve editorial processes, workflows, and storytelling approaches. Develop and maintain the editorial calendar, ensuring deadlines are met and publishing is timely and relevant. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of editors, journalists, photographers, producers, and other editorial staff. Serve as a senior editor, editing news across formats and working closely with journalists to refine voice, clarity, and impact. Review and approve sensitive, investigative, or high-stakes content before publication. Coordinate with the creative, digital, IT, and marketing teams to support the packaging, promotion, and presentation of stories for reach and engagement. Manage editorial staffing and budgets, including resource allocation, onboarding, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance newsroom culture. Ensure all editorial content upholds the highest standards of accuracy, legal compliance, and ethical journalism. Provide regular reports on editorial performance, team output, and departmental goals.
