About the role
CAD Designer | Browns Summit, NC | On site
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; overtime as neededA great company is seeking a CAD Designer to turn engineering concepts into production-ready designs and manufacturing documentation. You’ll work closely with engineers and the shop team, using Solid Works to model sheet metal and welded assemblies and prepare the drawings and files needed to build them.
What you’ll do:
Create and revise 3D parts and assemblies in Solid Works. Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with the dimensions, materials, and fabrication information the shop needs. Create nesting programs for the in-house laser and check cut files against approved designs. Create and maintain bills of materials using CAD, Excel, and the company’s ERP system. Prepare build packets from approved models and drawings for Operations. Spend time on the shop floor to answer questions, resolve fabrication issues, and incorporate feedback into design revisions. Keep drawings, BOMs, and build packets accurate as designs change.
What you’ll bring:
Five years of hands-on Solid Works experience or a two-year drafting degree with demonstrated Solid Works proficiency. At least two years of sheet metal and welding design experience. Experience creating 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready 2D drawings. Working knowledge of Excel and comfort maintaining detailed documentation. Willingness to complete practical Solid Works and Excel assessments. Experience with AutoCAD, Draft Sight, Solid Edge, laser nesting software, or an ERP system would be useful. This is an office-based role that requires frequent shop floor visits. Office attire is business casual.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
