About the role
Chaplain Position We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, staff, and the broader community within a healthcare setting in the Midwest region. This role requires sensitivity to diverse religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, ensuring respectful and personalized care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pastoral care focused on the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families, and staff.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with all stakeholders.
- Facilitate support groups and participate in patient rounds and care conferences, offering insights into spiritual dynamics.
- Maintain accurate records of pastoral care activities and complete required documentation in line with professional standards.
- Arrange or provide religious rites as requested.
- Oversee specific departmental programs and contribute to their development.
- Participate in bereavement services and support those dealing with loss.
- Create devotions and communications to raise awareness of spirituality in the workplace.
- Assist patients and families in understanding and executing Advanced Medical Directives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and self-care practices.
- Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary or university.
- Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement from the appropriate religious body.
- Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE); 4 units including a 1-year residency preferred.
- Board eligibility by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) required; Clinical Membership in ACPE preferred.
Experience:
At least 5 years in parish-based ministry preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare-related field preferred.
Work Schedule: Varied shifts on an as-needed basis.
