ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Educates and instructs members in the proper use of weights and equipment. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and guests; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.Designs personalized fitness programs for members through Coaching Connection Program. Communicates with coaching connection participants and updates their documents weekly. Ensures that daily/weekly equipment maintenance and cleaning are completed (use checklist).Enforces fitness center rules in order to ensure a safe, clean, hygienic and organized facility. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Takes on any additional responsibility as assigned by the director/coordinator. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers Attend/complete required abuse risk management training before working with consumers and on an annual basis. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers Follow mandated reporting requirements Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilitiesYMCA LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: (Leader) Mission Advancement : Accepts and demonstrates the Y's values. QUALIFICATIONS: Basic knowledge and experience in wellness with team/sports experience or some course work in Wellness/Fitness work preferred. At least 16 years of age.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including lifting, carrying, pulling, standing and walking. (up to 50 lbs.)Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
