Shop/Mobile Mechanic

Job Description Job Summary: Garrison McKinney Tree & Bridge Services LLC is looking for a dependable and experienced Shop/Mobile Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, trucks, trailers, and tree service equipment. This position includes both shop-based repairs and mobile field service to keep crews running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, diesel repair experience, and the ability to work on heavy equipment used in tree removal, trimming, hauling, land clearing, and job-site operations.

Key Responsibilities: Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, chippers, stump grinders, skid steers, loaders, lifts, and other tree service equipment. Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filters, fluids, grease service, belts, hoses, batteries, brakes, tires, and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoot diesel engine issues, electrical problems, hydraulic leaks, fuel systems, cooling systems, air systems, and driveline components. Respond to breakdowns in the field and perform mobile repairs when equipment is down on a job site. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, maintenance schedules, and service history. Keep trucks, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Order, pick up, and track parts as needed. Inspect equipment for safety issues before it is returned to service. Weld, fabricate, or make minor equipment modifications when needed, if qualified. Communicate clearly with management and crew leaders about repair status and equipment needs. Maintain a clean and organized shop, service truck, and work area. Follow all company safety policies and OSHA-related safe work practices. Qualifications: Experience repairing diesel engines, trucks, trailers, and/or heavy equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, fuel, air brake, and cooling systems. Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and make proper repairs. Must have own basic tools. Ability to work independently in the shop and in the field. Must be dependable, organized, and safety-minded. Valid driver's license required. CDL is a plus but not required unless assigned to drive CDL vehicles. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Tree service, construction, logging, landscaping, or heavy equipment experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy parts and tools. Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and job-site conditions. Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work around heavy equipment. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, jacks, lifts, and shop equipment. Work Schedule Schedule may vary based on company needs, equipment breakdowns, and job-site demands. Some overtime, weekend, or emergency repair work may be required. Pay Pay is based on experience, skill level, certifications, and ability to perform shop and mobile repairs.
