About the role

Tooling Design Engineer | Aerospace Manufacturing We’re looking for a Tooling Design Engineer to design practical tooling that helps teams build, assemble, test, and move hardware safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who understands what happens after the CAD model is finished. You’ll work from production needs, develop tooling solutions, support fabrication and installation, and help solve technical problems on the production floor.
What you’ll be doing: Design and release CAD models and engineering drawings for tooling Design assembly fixtures, material-handling equipment, rotisseries, test fixtures, structural weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machinery Take tooling projects from concept through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and proof testing Work with vendors on fabrication and procurement Support repair, rework, and nonconformance resolution Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions Develop material-handling and packaging solutions Partner with Manufacturing, Integration, and Component Engineering teams Balance safety, quality, cost, cycle time, delivery, reliability, and maintainability
What you bring: B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience 3+ years of direct manufacturing experience Tooling design, fabrication, and procurement experience Strong CAD modeling and drafting experience Creo Parametric and Windchill experience Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing, and GD&TAbility to create free-body diagrams, identify load cases, and perform basic hand calculations Experience with ASME Y14.5 standards
Nice to have: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering degree Tolerance stack-up experienceCNC machining, welding, sheet metal, lifting/rigging, assembly, or inspection experienceFEA / ANSYS Workbench Static Structural Strong DFM and DFA experience Experience taking hardware from development through rate production The type of engineer we’re looking for: Someone who can look at a production problem and figure out what tooling is actually needed, not just someone who can model parts in CAD.You should be comfortable working across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and the production floor while managing multiple tooling projects at once.
