The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Compliance has a vacancy. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare. Join the Radiation Program and help keep essential licensing operations running smoothly through accurate recordkeeping, coordination, and customer service. Your work will support regulatory compliance and help ensure the safe use of radioactive materials throughout Louisiana. Qualifications: Three years of experience in an environmental, natural resource management, or regulatory enforcement program; Six years of full-time work experience in any field; A bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Job Duties: Maintain radiation licensing records and tracking systems, including databases, records, spreadsheets, deadlines, and licensing status. Process and organize licensing documents in electronic filing system, including applications, renewals, amendments, correspondence, inspections, and supporting records. Provide administrative support to Radiation Program staff, including preparing correspondence, reports, licensing packages, meeting materials, and other documents. Respond to routine inquiries and provide customer service to applicants, licensees, other agencies, and the public, directing technical questions to appropriate staff. Support daily Radiation Program operations and special projects, including filing, mail, scheduling, supplies, records management, data collection, and other duties assigned by management. Position-Specific Details Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years). A job appointment could be converted to a probationary appointment should funding become available. Domicile: East Baton Rouge Career Progression: Environmental Project Specialist 1, 2, 3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
