VDC Specialist — Mechanical Construction (Remote)
About the Role:
We are seeking a VDC Specialist to join a mechanical contractor's virtual design and construction team. This is a fully remote position focused on modelling and coordinating mechanical piping systems in Revit. The team is currently supporting a heavy workload of live projects and requires someone who can contribute independently from the outset. This role is not structured as a training or development position.
Key Responsibilities:
Model and draft mechanical piping systems in Revit to construction-ready standards Produce coordinated shop drawings, spool drawings and installation deliverables Participate in multi-trade clash detection and coordination, resolving conflicts with other disciplines Attend and contribute to virtual coordination meetings with project teams, trade partners and design consultants Interpret contract documents, specifications and design drawings, and flag discrepancies to the project team Maintain model accuracy and file management standards throughout each project lifecycle Support the field team with layout information and as-built updates as required
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience modelling and drafting piping systems in Revit. General Revit exposure without dedicated piping content will not meet this requirement. Demonstrated multi-trade coordination experience on live mechanical construction projects Working knowledge of mechanical piping systems, materials, fittings and installation methods Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment Self-directed, with proven ability to manage deliverables and deadlines without daily in-person supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Pipe fitting, field layout or other trade background Experience with Navisworks or comparable clash detection software Experience on commercial, industrial, healthcare or mission critical projects Familiarity with fabrication-level detailing and spooling workflows Fully remote Apply directly or reach out if you are interested in learning more.
