- Suturing-preps patients and prepares sterile trays.
- Application of casts.
- Miscellaneous procedures including pelvic exams, lumbar punctures.
- Assists patients as needed.
- Recognize potential of life-threatening dysrhythmias and abnormal vital signs and report same to RN/Provider.
- Adheres to hospital policy addressing standard precautions, safety regulations and guidelines.
- Documents patient care performed.
- Interact with patients and families as appropriate, ensuring excellent patient and customer experiences.
- Transports patients and supplies.
- Cleans equipment, monitors stock, and restocks equipment and supplies as required.
- Assists in ordering routine equipment; maintains enough stretchers, wheelchairs, suction equipment, etc. in ER area.
- Maintains departmental cleanliness and prepares rooms between patients
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- BCLS certification required.
- Previous Emergency Department Technician, Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Certifications/Licensures Required:
- One of the following certifications/programs required:
- B-EMTGraduate from a formal Medical Assistant program.
- Completion of a formal nursing education program.
- Completion of a formal medical doctor education programOR One (1) year of applicable Emergency Room Technical experience in lieu of above completed certification/program.
