PHARMACIST IN CHARGE (PIC) Location: Vinton, VA 24179 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM with rotating weekends Salary: $131,000–$142,000/year Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 We are seeking a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join a closed-door pharmacy in Vinton, VA. This is a non-retail pharmacy environment serving long-term care and senior living patients. The pharmacy fills approximately 22,500 prescriptions per month and has a team of 5 full-time pharmacists and 1 part-time pharmacist. The ideal candidate will have pharmacy experience and previous experience supervising, leading, or managing other pharmacy professionals. Long-term care experience is preferred but not required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee daily pharmacy operations and help ensure efficient workflow. Supervise and direct pharmacy staff, including scheduling and operational responsibilities. Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards. Support quality improvement and cost-containment initiatives. Provide clinical and technical guidance to pharmacy staff and regional teams. Respond to medication-related questions from healthcare providers, patients, caregivers, and internal staff. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Ensure proper procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of medications. Document clinical interventions and communications appropriately. Promote safe, accurate, and high-quality pharmacy services. Collaborate with pharmacy management to support overall operational and patient-care goals.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent) or PharmD. Active and unrestricted Virginia Pharmacist license. Pharmacy experience with demonstrated leadership or staff-management experience. Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to lead a pharmacy team and manage daily operations. Computer proficiency and familiarity with pharmacy management systems. PREFERREDLong-term care pharmacy experience. PharmD degree. Experience working in a closed-door or institutional pharmacy environment.
