JOB DESCRIPTION: Vikki Goodwin for Texas is seeking Organizing Fellows to join the campaign's statewide organizing program for the 2026 General Election. Organizing Fellows will work directly with the Organizing Department to recruit and develop volunteers, engage voters, and support the campaign's persuasion and voter contact programs across Texas. This is a department-specific fellowship. Organizing Fellows will be embedded within the Organizing Department and will primarily support organizing and voter contact activities rather than serving as general campaign interns. Fellows will receive hands-on experience with a statewide organizing operation while taking responsibility for defined projects, volunteer relationships, and recurring work within the department. The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, comfortable talking with people from different backgrounds, and interested in learning how campaigns build grassroots organizations capable of persuading and turning out voters. Prior campaign experience is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities: Earned Media & Press Assist with drafting press releases, media advisories, statements, talking points, and other campaign communications Maintain and update press lists and other communications databases Assist with press outreach and pitching campaign events, announcements, and other earned media opportunities Track campaign press coverage and maintain an organized archive of clips and media mentions Assist with preparation and staffing for press conferences, interviews, editorial boards, and other media appearances News Monitoring & Rapid Response Monitor Texas and national news, political developments, and opponent activity for relevant developments Identify news stories and emerging issues that may create communications opportunities for the campaign Conduct research to support rapid response, messaging, and earned media efforts Help prepare background materials, research, and draft language in response to breaking news and campaign developments Candidate & Message Support Assist with research and preparation of candidate briefing materials, talking points, and other communications materials Help ensure campaign messaging and public-facing materials remain accurate and consistent Support communications planning around policy rollouts, endorsements, campaign events, and major campaign milestones Digital & Message Amplification Assist with drafting social media copy and other written digital content Identify opportunities to amplify earned media, campaign events, endorsements, policy announcements, and other campaign priorities Coordinate with the Content Creator and other communications staff to help turn campaign moments and earned media into digital content Assist with basic graphics, video, or other digital content as needed and based on experience
Requirements: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, and other campaign technology Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take feedback Ability to work independently once trained while communicating effectively with the Finance team Commitment to electing Democrats Availability for occasional evenings and weekends as campaign needs require The broader Communications Director role explicitly integrates earned media, rapid response, candidate preparation, digital amplification, and coordination with the rest of the campaign, so I think fellows getting exposure across those areas makes sense rather than siloing them into only press clips or social media.
Additional Qualifications: Previous experience with political campaigns, elected officials, advocacy organizations, labor organizations, student media, journalism, public relations, or political communications is a plus, but not required. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, media monitoring tools, or campaign technology is also a plus. Individuals who want to develop the skills necessary to pursue future work in campaign communications, political communications, or Democratic politics. The Vikki Goodwin Campaign is an equal opportunity employer. We eagerly invite people of color, Native American and Indigenous people, immigrants, women, genderqueer and nonbinary people, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, and others to apply for all open positions at The Vikki Goodwin Campaign.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
