About the role
Job Responsibilities:
Assembly & Layout: Responsible for the accurate layout and assembly of fabricated parts based on shop drawings, adhering to AISC and AWS standards. Fabrication Setup: Align and position fabricated structural metal components according to blueprint specifications in preparation for welding or riveting. Precision Marking: Identify and mark reference points and centerlines on the floor or face block and transpose them onto the workpiece. Positioning Parts: Move parts into position manually or with a hoist/overhead crane, ensuring proper alignment for final assembly. Safety Compliance: Consistently adhere to company safety protocols and OSHA regulations. Attendance & Availability: Must be available for overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or trade school certification in mechanics is preferred.
Skills & Experience:
Proficient in fitting a variety of structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, and frames. Welding Certification: Ability to pass a Class B welding test, which may include 1G FCAW, 3G FCAW, 4G FCAW, 1G SMAW, 3G SMAW, 4G SMAW, and 1G SAW. Mathematical Proficiency: Strong math skills are essential for layout and assembly tasks.
Measurement Skills: Must successfully pass a tape measure proficiency test.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing more than 50 pounds frequently. Physical Activity: Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, and carrying are required. Environment: Exposure to fluctuating temperatures and a noisy work environment.
Work Hours: Significant overtime and weekend work may be required.
