Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a premier Morgantown-area client for aGIS Technician. This position is ideal for candidates with experience inGIS mapping, geospatial data management, ArcGIS Pro, cartography, and spatial data editingwho are looking to grow their career within the energy industry.
In this role, you will support day-to-day GIS operations by maintaining spatial data, creating maps and exhibits, assisting internal departments with GIS requests, and ensuring data accuracy across a variety of land and operational datasets.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and update GIS datasets, including land tracts, lease boundaries, and related mapping layers
Edit spatial and attribute data while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness
Create maps, exhibits, and cartographic products for internal teams and external partners
Support Land, Title, and Operations departments with mapping requests and GIS deliverables
Generate shapefiles, PDFs, reports, tables, and other geospatial products
Export GIS data for consultants, brokers, and third-party stakeholders
Ensure proper data formatting and quality control before release
Assist with ongoing GIS data maintenance and established workflow processes
Collaborate with GIS leadership to maintain standards and prioritize requests
Identify data issues and support continuous improvement efforts
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree inGIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Geospatial Technology, or a related field
1-3 years of GIS experience
Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and/or Arc Map
Experience editing spatial data and producing professional map products
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supportingoil & gas, land, title, utility, or asset management GIS workflows
Familiarity with ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and Enterprise GIS environments
Experience working withparcel, lease, tract, right-of-way, or property-based datasets
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive salary of$60,000 - $70,000 annually, based on experience
