SALARY: $210,267.20 - $220,771.20 Annually OPENING DATE: 10/01/26 CLOSING DATE: 10/22/26 11:59 PM Chandler Police Department 2026 Police Commander Recruitment Process The Chandler Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Police Commander. This position has full responsibility to plan, supervise and review the activities of all personnel assigned to a division of the Police Department. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Police Chief or Assistant Chief, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Supervision is exercised over the work of employees in the class of Police Lieutenants, Police Sergeants, Police Officers and other non-sworn support personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a job-related field; and At least five (5) years of experience at the rank of Police Lieutenant, or higher, with a law enforcement agency with 100 or more sworn personnel; and AZPOST Certification; and Valid Arizona Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
Hiring Process: The 2026 Commander process will be as follows: Date TBD: Panel Oral Board Date TBD: Chief Interview - The Police Chief will conduct final interviews prior to promotion. The Chief will be given the names of the recommended candidates after the oral interview and presentation. The Chief has the right to select any candidate interviewed. If the Chief fails any candidate(s), the candidate(s) will be removed and notified. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
