Our amazing benefits package starts on your very first day and includes low-cost family medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending and health savings accounts, paid vacation and paid holidays, a 401k plan with a 5% employer match, and an additional employer funded retirement savings account.Job Description and ResponsibilitiesThe Heat Treat Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and processing steel plate in a heavy industrial environment. This role requires following all safety rules, completing work tasks according to standard operating procedures, and performing physical labor throughout 12-hour rotating shifts.* + Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate+ Load and unload steel plate on conveyor systems+ Load and unload steel plate onto trucks and rail cars+ Use burning equipment and hand grinders to cut and prepare plate samples for testing+ Tag and mark steel plate+ Enter data into computer systems+ Operate forklift+ Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the front-line supervisorRequirements* + Ability to work in environments subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise+ Ability to accurately enter data into computers without transposing figures+ Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals+ Ability to think ahead and plan work in a fast-paced setting+ Ability to work independently+ Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds+ Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification)+ Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts+ Ability to quickly coordinate hand motions with overhead crane operation+ Comfortable working in high places+ Successful completion of an ergonomic testPreferred* + Experience operating a remote-controlled crane in a fast-paced environment+ 2-5 years industrial experience+ Experience in a position requiring planning out work Our total compensation package includes amazing benefits!* Competitive wages and bonus opportunities* Family medical, dental, and prescription coverage at minimal employee cost* Short and long term disability programs* Competitive retirement plans* Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts* Employer-provided and Voluntary Life Insurance options* Paid vacation and recognized statutory holidays* Apprenticeship and career advancement within the company* Tuition reimbursement* Wellness programAll applicants must be eligible to work in the USA.While we thank all those who apply, only those being actively considered for employment will be contacted.Equal Opportunity EmployerOrion Steel Group, L.L.C. is an Equal Opportunity employer.
