Role Description: This full-time, on-site and work from home Seasonal Tax Preparer role is based in Glyndon, MD. The Seasonal Tax Preparer will prepare individual and small business tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing client documents, organizing financial information, and verifying data for accuracy and completeness. The role involves meeting with clients to gather tax-related information, answering basic tax questions, and explaining return results in a clear, professional manner. The Seasonal Tax Preparer will also assist with basic bookkeeping tasks, support the preparation of financial statements, maintain detailed work papers, and collaborate with team members to meet filing deadlines during peak season.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong skills in Tax Preparation and Tax to accurately complete individual and small business returns. Candidates should possess knowledge of Tax Law to interpret relevant regulations and ensure compliance with current rules. Candidates should possess abilities related to Finance and Financial Statements to analyze client data and support accurate reporting. Previous experience in a tax or accounting firm, especially in seasonal or deadline-driven environments, is beneficial. Relevant education or certification (e.g., coursework in accounting or finance, Enrolled Agent status, or progress toward CPA) is advantageous. Proficiency with tax preparation software such as CCH Axcess and basic office applications, along with strong attention to detail and organizational skills, is preferred. Ability to communicate clearly with clients, maintain confidentiality, and work independently while meeting tight deadlines is expected.
