About the role

Role Summary: Options market making presents a unique challenge in combining scale with business complexity. With over a million of listed options at the heart of billions of messages, we handle internet-scale datasets while being constrained on hardware due to latency requirements necessitating exchange co-location. This forces us to both push the machines to their max as well as innovate in the space of algorithms and business. In our mission to be the most successful investment team in the world, we hire the brightest minds in technology, research, and finance, and empower them to collaborate. Treating the problems as "data-in, data-out" technical challenges is not enough. To succeed, you need to be willing to master the options trading domain and translate this mastery into cutting edge software solutions, collapsing data cardinality where possible. Opportunities may be available from time to time in any location in which the business is based for suitable candidates. If you are interested in a career with Citadel, please share your details and we will contact you if there is a vacancy available.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
