About the role
Empowered Staffing is partnered with a leading healthcare real estate investment and management company with a nationwide portfolio of skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and post-acute care facilities. As the company continues to grow, it is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its team in Skokie to manage day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of properties.
Responsibilities:
Process and record accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and credit card transactions. Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for the monthly close. Reconcile bank accounts, balance-sheet accounts, and intercompany activity. Track rent and other payments received from facility operators. Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned properties and ownership entities. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial-statement preparation. Prepare account schedules, cash-flow projections, and financial-reporting support. Monitor facility operators’ compliance with lease-related financial and reporting requirements. Maintain fixed-asset and depreciation schedules. Assist with new-property acquisitions, dispositions, and legal-entity setup. Support year-end audits and provide requested documentation to auditors. Research account discrepancies and help resolve outstanding accounting issues. Complete ad hoc assignments for the accounting and asset-management teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. Previous accounting experience, including accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity. Understanding of basic accounting principles and the monthly close process. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial records. Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, properties, and legal entities.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with real estate, property, portfolio, or multi-entity accounting. Experience using Yardi or a comparable property-management and accounting platform. Exposure to cash-flow projections, fixed assets, audits, or property acquisitions.
