Position Summary:
  • Child Life Specialist - Inpatient Surgical
  • Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients Serving as member of multidisciplinary team
  • Providing support to patients and families from birth to young adults population.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Common interventions include support for procedures, siblings, development, and bereavement
  • Providing coping support for patients with both short and long-term hospitalizations
  • Maintaining resources which include ordering and stocking unit areas
Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist. General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge. Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member. Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
