About the role
RETS Associates on behalf of our client, a privately held real estate investment and development firm, is seeking a Director of Acquisitions in San Diego to help lead the continued growth of its multifamily investment platform. The firm invests across value-add, core, and ground-up development opportunities throughout the Western U.S., with a focus on Southern California, Silicon Valley, Arizona, and Washington. The Director of Acquisitions will lead the sourcing, underwriting, and execution of multifamily investments from initial evaluation through closing. This individual will develop relationships with brokers and industry partners, evaluate new markets and strategies, support joint venture and third-party equity relationships, and work directly with the firm's principals and development teams on investment strategy and execution.
Requirements:
5–10 years of relevant real estate investment experience with significant multifamily acquisitions experience preferred Demonstrated experience underwriting and executing multifamily, SFR, BTR, and/or residential development investments Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities Experience across the full transaction lifecycle, including sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, financing, and closing Strong understanding of real estate capital structures, including debt, preferred equity, mezzanine financing, JV equity, and common equity Experience with joint ventures, institutional LPs, and/or family office capital highly desirable Strong understanding of multifamily market fundamentals and investment considerations Existing relationships across Western U.S. multifamily markets preferred Entrepreneurial, hands-on approach with the ability to independently source and execute transactions Ability to operate strategically while remaining highly involved in underwriting and transaction execution
