About the role
đ¨ NOW HIRING: Project Engineer â Pharma Constructionđ Kankakee, ILWeâre looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support a large-scale, multi-building GMP-compliant pharmaceutical construction project in Kankakee, IL.This is a hands-on construction-phase position for a Project Engineer who has experience working for an EPC contractor on pharmaceutical, biopharma, or life sciences projects. While the official title is Project Engineer, this role will operate similarly to an Assistant Construction Manager, with significant involvement in the field and day-to-day execution of the project.
đ¨ Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Construction Manager with daily construction activities and field execution
- Coordinate subcontractors, field teams, scheduling, logistics, and resources
- Work closely with the construction team to keep project milestones on schedule
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation
- Monitor quality and ensure construction activities meet project specifications and GMP requirements
- Track material deliveries and coordinate with procurement and project teams
- Participate in project meetings, safety activities, and field coordination
- Identify and escalate issues affecting schedule, quality, or construction progress
- Serve as a key connection between the EPC project team, subcontractors, and field personnelđŻ What Weâre Looking For:
- 3â5+ years of construction/project engineering experience
- Experience working for an EPC contractor is required
- Pharmaceutical, biopharma, life sciences, or GMP construction experience is strongly preferred
- Experience specifically supporting the construction phase of a pharmaceutical project
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and field construction activities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with construction/project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similarâ Preferred:
- Bachelorâs degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or related field
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent
- Experience with large-scale, complex pharmaceutical or life sciences facilities
