About the role

Tax Senior | Cleveland, OH | Hybrid | CPA FirmIf you're a Tax Senior who's starting to feel like you've outgrown your current firm a little, but you're not quite ready to make the jump to Manager, this could be a good next step. Especially if you want to get more involved with clients rather than spending another year just preparing returns and sending them off for someone else to deal with. I'm working with a smaller CPA firm in Cleveland that's looking for a Tax Senior to join their team. They're growing, they've got some really good clients and there's plenty of opportunity to keep learning without feeling like you're being thrown in at the deep end. You'll be working mainly with high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses, preparing and reviewing tax returns, getting involved in tax planning and having more direct contact with clients as you develop. And because it's a smaller firm, you'll get to work closely with the Partners too. Which makes quite a difference when you're at this stage in your career. Rather than waiting until you're a Manager to get exposure to more interesting work, you'll have the opportunity to start building those skills now. Another thing worth mentioning is how they approach growth. They're actually turning some new clients away at the moment because they don't want to overload the team they've already got. Sounds like common sense, doesn't it? But I'm sure plenty of people working in public accounting would tell you it's not always how things work. You might be at a larger firm where you're finding it difficult to get noticed, or perhaps you're already at a smaller firm but feel like you've learnt everything you can from the people around you. Either way, I think this one's worth knowing about. If you've got a few years of tax experience within a CPA firm, I'd be happy to tell you more. Apply or give me a call on 412 991 2084.I start at 6am EST, so mornings are absolutely fine. After 5pm works too, although I might be slightly less lively by then. And please don't worry if you don't tick every box. If the role sounds like something you'd enjoy, it's worth having a conversation. Ref: INDPOM | 34554

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
