About the role

Lead Farm and Agribusiness Underwriter To underwrite Farm and Agribusiness lines of insurance with an account focus. To provide expert assistance to Farm Bureau Insurance agents and other farm and agribusiness underwriters. To implement company philosophy and underwriting guidelines in the acceptance, rejection, or modification of accounts. To act as a peer-leader within the Farm and Agribusiness Underwriting Department. Evaluate, examine, and physically survey risks submitted for coverage by Farm Bureau Insurance agents. Accept, modify, or reject risks based upon all relevant information available, including guidelines, directives, inspections, and claims information. Execute these underwriting functions on all Farm and Agribusiness lines of business. Properly classify and rate risks, verify coverage amounts, and develop appropriate premium on an individual and account basis. Work with Farm Bureau Insurance agents, and in some cases clients, to determine exposure and appropriate coverages. Monitor results of individual risks and accounts by the review of pictures, inspections, claims, consumer reports, renewal surveys, audits, and communications with Farm Bureau Insurance agents. Possess expert knowledge and mastery of coverage forms and endorsements, and excellent hazard identification and evaluation. Keep abreast of industry topics and trends beyond Farm Bureau Insurance. Share such knowledge with Farm Bureau Insurance agents and peers, and answer coverage questions when asked. Required Bachelors degree required or equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum seven years of farm and agribusiness underwriting experience. Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record. Associate in Personal Insurance (API) or Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) required. Southern Farm Bureau Tech Underwriting Training and AAIC Ag Advisor required. Preferred Certification in CPCU preferred. Other equivalent experience or education may be considered.
