Grinding Operator - Aurora, ILThe Grinding Operator plays a vital role in sustainability efforts by operating machinery to grind plastic scrap into reusable materials. This position contributes to reducing waste and promoting environmentally responsible practices. The operator is responsible for prepping the grinding equipment, ensuring a continuous feed of material, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
Responsibilities:
Operate grinding machinery to process plastic scrap efficiently and safely. Lift and lower boxes of plastic scrap to feed into the grinder, ensuring a constant material flow. Manage machine functions by operating the control box and optimizing grinding process settings. Conduct routine maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly and maintain cleanliness by sweeping and tidying up debris. Assemble and bag boxes for ground material, identifying unusable or dirty boxes for cleaning or discarding. Select and sort materials by color before feeding them into the grinder. Continuously monitor the conveyor belt for metal, oversized scrap, and contaminants, promptly removing obstructions. Conduct saw cutting for larger scrap materials as needed. Maintain a daily log, including data entry of job start and finish times, machine downtimes, and significant issues encountered. Essential Skills Ability to follow safety protocols and guidelines. Authorization to work in the US.Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Demonstrate punctuality and consistent attendance. Availability to work on holidays and at least every other weekend.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Basic mechanical aptitude preferred. Previous experience in machine operation or a similar role is preferred. Machine operating experience. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
