Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDate: August 24, 2026 Title: Campus Safety Dispatcher DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Director of Campus Safety, the Campus Safety Dispatchers are an integral part of campus activities, and are responsible for answering and transferring all incoming calls that are dialed to the main Hartwick College phone number. The dispatchers serve the Campus Safety and Facilities Department while handling everything from emergency situations to routine assignments and service requests. The dispatcher is also a first line customer service representative and gives the important first impression for people making telephone inquiries to the campus. This position is for the 11:00pm - 7:00am shift.
Responsibilities:
Provide continuous 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service to the Hartwick College communityAnswer all incoming phone calls and transfer these calls to the appropriate office or personDispatch Campus Safety or Facilities to any calls for service on campusMaintain dispatch files for Campus Safety and assign case numbers and dispositions when neededPrint out and file all daily reports including emails and memosMaintain the Campus Safety lost and found property filesMonitor the campus surveillance camera systemHave the ability to maintain positive relationships with all internal and external constituentsMake timely notifications to appropriate supervisors and other Hartwick College staff of emergencies, hazardous situations, and any other newsworthy or major incidentsComply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulationsAs a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campusParticipate in major campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement WeekendQualificationsMinimum requirements for this position are a High School Diploma, or GED. Outside experience with customer service and telephones is a plus.
