Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Evening Shift The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during evening hours. The DSP assists individuals with daily living activities, promotes independence, ensures safety and well-being, and supports community participation in accordance with individual care plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist individuals with personal care needs including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation Administer medications and document according to agency policies Support individuals in developing independent living and social skills Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment Provide transportation and supervision for community outings, appointments, and recreational activities Complete daily documentation, incident reports, and communication logs accurately and timely Monitor behaviors and respond appropriately to crisis situations using approved interventions Encourage positive relationships, choice-making, and self-advocacy Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, families, and healthcare professionals Follow all state regulations, agency policies, and confidentiality requirements
Evening Shift Responsibilities: Prepare and serve dinner and snacks Assist with evening routines and bedtime preparation Ensure completion of household tasks and scheduled activities Provide overnight preparation and shift transition communication to incoming staff
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required Ability to pass background checks and required training certifications
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
Schedule: Evening shifts typically include weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.
