WMC Advanced Physician Services PC · Blood Bank- WMC Health Valhalla, NYAllied Health Prof/Technical Per Diem Weekends11-7::30 amJob Summary: The Clinical Technologist is responsible for all activities with blood and blood components including, but not limited to, logging-in the units, thawing plasma, thawing and pooling cryoprecipitate, irradiate products and washing RBCs; setting up patient or blood product samples for testing by a technologist/automated machine; maintenance of lab equipment.
Responsibilities:
  • Performing type and screen testing, cross matching, and antibody identification
  • Calculating and preparing blood for exchange transfusion
  • Ensuring blood inventory control is maintained at acceptable levels Recording all quality control and quality assurance activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed
  • Ensuring all blood components intended for transfusion are in accordance with cGMP as required by NYSDOH, FDA, AABB, CAP and NYBCHandling other related functions as needed
Qualifications/Requirements
Experience: Transfusion Service or as a Generalist with prior Blood Bank experience preferred
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science or MT
Licenses / Certifications: Clinical Lab Technologists issued by the New York State Education Department; or (b) possession of a limited permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or restricted license to practice clinical laboratory technology at Westchester Medical Center issued by the New York State Education Department.
