About the role
This opportunity is especially well suited for Napa-area residents, college students, recent graduates, aspiring educators, and anyone looking for purposeful part-time service while continuing school, work, or other professional goals. AmeriCorps EXL Members serve directly in local Napa schools, becoming trusted mentors, enrichment leaders, tutors, and positive role models for students. Each Member is placed at one school site for the service year, so you will not be expected to commute between multiple schools each day.
Member Duties:
AmeriCorps EXL members in Napa serve students during the school day and in expanded learning programs. Members provide small-group tutoring, academic support, mentoring, and social-emotional encouragement to help students build confidence and succeed in school. They also support active recess, enrichment activities, positive behavior strategies, and safe, inclusive learning environments. Members work closely with school staff to build strong relationships with students, identify areas where additional support is needed, and contribute to a positive school community. Through consistent service, EXL members help students strengthen academic skills, develop healthy relationships, and feel connected and supported at school.
