We are a leading specialty distributor of landscaping, irrigation, outdoor living, and related products serving professional contractors through a multi-branch distribution network. HQ'd in Naperville, IL and backed by a leading private equity sponsor, we generate ~$100 million in annual revenue and are executing an ambitious growth strategy driven by operational excellence, organic expansion, and strategic M&A.
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the SVP, Corporate Controller will lead all accounting, financial reporting, controls, compliance, and close processes across the organization. This executive will serve as a key member of the leadership team and partner closely with the CEO, Board, and private equity sponsor to build a scalable finance infrastructure capable of supporting continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all accounting, reporting, audit, tax, treasury support, and compliance functions. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Ensure accurate and timely GAAP financial reporting. Strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial processes. Oversee inventory accounting, working capital reporting, and distribution finance operations. Manage lender reporting and covenant compliance. Support board, investor, and private equity reporting requirements. Lead finance transformation initiatives, systems improvements, and process automation. Participate in acquisition diligence and integration activities. Develop and mentor a high-performing accounting organization.
Qualifications:
Private equity-backed portfolio company experience required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA nice to have.12+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience. Prior Controller or Corporate Controller experience in a multi-site distribution, wholesale, industrial, building products, or specialty products environment. Strong U.S. GAAP and technical accounting background. CPA strongly preferred. Proven success building scalable processes, teams, and control environments. Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will be a hands-on finance executive with strong technical accounting expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment. This individual must possess the leadership presence to influence senior stakeholders while maintaining a deep operational understanding of a distribution business.
