Description: The Welder Helper assists Welders with welding, fabrication, repair, and construction activities. This position is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in industrial and oilfield construction while supporting experienced Welders and other crew members. The Welder Helper helps prepare materials, organize tools and equipment, maintain work areas, and perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
Requirements: Previous construction, welding, fabrication, oilfield, or industrial experience preferred but not always required. Willingness to learn welding and fabrication-related skills. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a crew. Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools after proper training. Ability to work outdoors and in active construction and industrial environments. Ability to perform physical work associated with construction and fabrication activities. Dependable attendance and willingness to work assigned schedules. Must follow all Blakely Construction and customer safety requirements. Must meet company and customer requirements for assigned work : Assist Welders with welding, fitting, fabrication, and repair work. Move, position, and prepare materials for welding. Clean and prepare metal surfaces before and after welding. Assist with measuring, cutting, grinding, and fitting materials. Set up and organize welding leads, tools, equipment, and work areas. Retrieve materials and supplies needed by the Welder. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Inspect and care for tools and equipment. Follow instructions from Welders, Foremen, and Supervisors. Follow all company and customer safety policies. Wear and properly use required PPE. Participate in safety meetings and JSAs/JHAs. Learn welding, fabrication, and construction skills through hands-on experience.
