About the role

Volunteer with Safe Parking LA to help create a welcoming and supportive space for participants as they arrive at our safe parking lots. Why: By volunteering as a Lot Host with Safe Parking LA, you're helping foster connection, safety, and dignity for individuals living in their vehicles. Your presence ensures participants feel seen, respected, and welcomed, turning an ordinary parking lot into a place of community that supports their journey toward stability and housing. Who: Safe Parking LA provides safe overnight parking to facilitate stability and housing in Los Angeles County for individuals living in their vehicles, and advocates for fair and equitable treatment and resources for the unhoused. What to Expect: Welcome and Support Participants: Greet participants as they arrive, answer questions, and provide basic information about site resources and guidelines. Coordinate with SPLA Staff: Work closely with staff to plan evening activities, report any issues, and ensure a safe, orderly environment. Maintain the Lot Environment: Assist with light cleanup or organization as needed to help keep the space clean and comfortable. Foster Community: Help create opportunities for connection! What's Required: Evening availability (7PM–10PM on a scheduled weeknight). Orientation or training required. 6-month minimum commitment preferred. Recurring weekly; biweekly or monthly options may be available. Service takes place at one of our program lots in West LA. Basic comfort interacting with participants in a sensitive, trauma-informed manner.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
