The Senior Flight Operations Crew Analysis Consultant is responsible for leading and conducting research and analysis to develop, enhance, and support Crew Planning and Flight Operations tools and data processes while minimizing planned and executed costs . The S enior Consultant applies their analytical and technical background to lead the team in solving business problems. This role also deeply understands data sets and prepares/presents the team’s work to Senior Leadership. The Senior Flight Operations Analysis Consultant is detai l-oriented and excited to support impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest.

Responsibilities Leads and execute the research and analysis of trends, the development of new processes, tools and reports to support greater efficiency for Flight Operations Crew Planning and Scheduling
Mentors other team members and helps develop Analysts and Consultants within and outside he team
Directly involved in the development, improvement, and quality control of data sets by participating and leading conversations with our technology partners and other teams within the business
Leverage his/hers and the team’s technology skills (SQL, Alteryx, Python, R, Tableau, Big Data Concepts) and business knowledge to provide answers to business requests
Transforms raw data into easily understood, presentable, and actionable findings sharing them with Senior Leaders, Employees, and Unions
Leads the development, improvement and maintenance of predictive models and forecasting tools
Facilitates and teaches technical guidance on principles and topics to Flight Operations Crew Planning, Scheduling, Labor Relations, Finance and other departments across the company
Conducts analysis using optimization to create and compare scenarios offering insights into pairing construction, work rule changes, and any other project benefiting from optimization
Leads the analysis of proposed work rule changes and supports Labor Relations, Finance and the People Department with crew related data
Partners with technology and other business areas to develop, improve, maintain and correct deficiencies on software and data sources
Drives operational and cost improvements for staffing, crew pairings, daily open time assignment, and irregular operations management
Develops and maintain strong relationships with Customers, peers and Leaders while taking ownership of individual and Team deliverables
Utilize appropriate data management procedures including privacy standards. Also, makes sure the team follow the procedures and standards accordingly
Attends, leads and participates in meetings; creates and delivers presentations to Company leaders, Employees, and Unions
Supports the other teams within the Crew Planning & Analytics Group by designing, preparing and presenting when required
Interfaces with and supports Leaders in Crew Planning, Scheduling, Training, and other departmental Employees on a daily basis
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced knowledge of understanding of the Flight Operations organization, philosophies, and procedures
Ability to view problems as an opportunity for improvement
Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment
Ability to lead on projects and serve as subject matter expert
Ability to train and lead junior team members on data, tools, techniques, business knowledge and solve complex problems
Ability to work under pressure, deadlines and juggle multiple tasks working as a team player with little supervision
Ability to interpret data, draw implications and adjust the analysis approach as required
Ability to clearly communicate complex principles, work rules and processes to all audiences both verbal and in writing
Ability to develop and deliver presentations to large audiences including senior leadership and union leaders
Ability to comprehend and manage optimization software, interpret results, and create iterative processes for improvement
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in: Data collection, applied statistics, business analysis, and presentation
Scheduling, planning, or operational analysis
Advanced knowledge of SQL (Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL)
Proficiency in Python, R or other related data analysis resources
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Expert Excel and Power Point skills
Proven expertise in presenting to Senior Leaders
Experience using Tableau or other data visualization software
Experience using optimization software
Licensing/Certification N/A
Physical Abilities Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
Ability to work extended hours as needed
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $128,350 per year to $142,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
