Job Description: Job Description Experienced Traffic Signal Technician
Location:
Pensacola, FLMarathon Staffing is hiring an experienced Traffic Signal Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, testing, and repair of traffic signal systems and related equipment. What you'll do:
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on traffic signals and associated equipment Troubleshoot, diagnose, test, and repair traffic signal systems Maintain and repair controllers, cabinets, detection systems, wiring, fiber optics, twisted-pair copper, and wireless communication systems Conduct field inspections of traffic signal equipment and electrical components Respond to service requests, malfunctions, complaints, and emergency situations Install and maintain traffic signal equipment and related infrastructure Adjust in-field signal timing and operational strategies Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, maps, plats, plans, specifications, and technical documents Complete mathematical calculations related to traffic signal operations and projects Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and specialized tools Support Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), as assigned Assist with traffic signal operations through the Traffic Management Center (TMC)/Traffic Signals Operations Center (TSOC), as assigned Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and service records Follow traffic-control procedures, work-zone safety requirements, electrical safety practices, and applicable codes/standards Participate in emergency/on-call service as required
What you bring:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and closely related experience Previous experience in traffic signal maintenance, electrical work, electronics, telecommunications, ITS, or a closely related technical field Knowledge of traffic signalization methods, materials, equipment, and standards Strong understanding of electrical components, wiring practices, and applicable electrical codes Ability to troubleshoot traffic signal and electrical systems Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, plans, specifications, and technical documents Comfort using computers, software applications, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools Strong communication and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable driving requirements Ability to work safely around traffic and in outdoor conditions Clean background check and drug test required
Work environment:
Primarily field-based work Work around active roadways and traffic May require climbing, bending, lifting, working from elevated equipment, and operating tools/testing equipment May require on-call/emergency response rotation, including outside normal working hours Ready to apply?
