About the role

Our client has a full-time hybrid opportunity for an FSO at their Crystal City, Virginia office. The Facility Security Officer (FSO) develops, implements, and maintains security plans, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), contract requirements, the SCI Administrative Security Manual, and other applicable security directives. The FSO oversees day-to-day security operations for sensitive and classified activities and supports the protection of personnel, information, facilities, and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Administer and oversee day-to-day security activities involving sensitive and classified information. Develop and maintain security plans, procedures, instructions, and training materials; conduct employee security training. Perform self-inspections, maintain control of sensitive and classified material, and prepare documentation for DCSA assessments. Ensure compliance with company, customer, and government security requirements. Manage DISS/NBIS, visit requests, personnel security inquiries, and e-QIP initiations; update DCSA systems, including NISS and eMASS, as required. Provide security support and direction to prime contractors and subcontractors, including developing and maintaining DD Form 254s, security guidance, and classified holdings. Oversee personnel, physical, communications (COMSEC), document control, and visitor control security functions. Review requests for proposals, contracts, and DD Form 254s; develop appropriate security responses and plans. Serve as a liaison with customer and subcontractor security offices. Coordinate classified visits, meetings, briefings, and material transmissions. Assist personnel with SF-86 submissions, SCI nominations, special-access packages, and indoctrinations. Investigate security violations and prepare required reports for DCSA and agency representatives, including preventive actions. Issue identification badges and hand-carry credentials. Lead process maturity assessments for key security processes and support continuous improvement of the company’s ISO-aligned quality management system. Stay current on regulations and security developments through participation in the security community. Perform other comparable duties or provide support in other areas as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree. At least five years of experience as an FSO or in a similar role managing the components of a DCSA-compliant security program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active, in-scope TS/SCI clearance. Experience developing and implementing security and risk-management programs. Experience preparing SCI nomination packages and coordinating indoctrinations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117, ICDs, JAFAN, and other applicable DoD security directives. Experience with CSSO/CPSO duties and security-management software is an advantage. Ability to identify and document system threats, develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), and conduct ongoing security reviews and tests. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clear communication skills when working with colleagues and leadership.
