Job Description Summary The Manager, Network Infrastructure and Security Engineering is responsible for delivering secure, reliable, and scalable network infrastructure services across MUSC. The role balances technical oversight, operational accountability, team leadership, stakeholder communication, and continuous improvement to support academic, research, and healthcare operations. Areas of responsibility include routing, switching, wireless networks, IP address management, VPN, firewalls, authentication services, and related network security platforms. This position serves as a subject matter expert for network and security services, evaluates and resolves complex technical issues, and translates technical requirements into reliable, secure, service-oriented solutions for enterprise stakeholders. The role ensures appropriate documentation is maintained, manages communication with the team and enterprise stakeholders, establishes processes that reduce barriers to adoption, and mitigates disruption related to the design, implementation, management, and operation of network and security services. The position also manages team resources, aligns workload to organizational priorities, supports staff development, strengthens stakeholder relationships, contributes to project scoping, tracks time management, and reinforces accountability through key performance metrics and continuous improvement. Requirements: Education/Skills/Work Experience/Licensure: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in information technology management, computer science, or related field. At least seven years of progressive work experience in Network Infrastructure and/or Security Engineering. At least 2 years of management experience to include leading teams and projects.
