About the role

Position Overview: We are hiring Network Cabling Technicians to support multiple switch replacement projects across San Francisco. Technicians will travel to client sites to remove and replace network switches, clean up and re-patch existing cabling, and verify connectivity. Some projects will require travel to Sonoma, with potential per diem available.
Key Responsibilities: Travel to assigned client locations throughout San Francisco and Sonoma Remove existing network switches and install new switches in racks and cabinets Rack, mount, and power new equipment following project documentation Re-patch copper and fiber connections according to port maps and cutover plans Label, trace, and document patch cords, ports, and cable runs Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling as needed Terminate and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber as needed Dress and manage cabling in racks using proper cable management practices Troubleshoot connectivity issues and verify link lights and port activity after cutover Pull new cable through ceilings, walls, conduit, and pathways when required Perform telecom closet cleanup and removal of abandoned cabling Coordinate with site contacts, project managers, and network teams to minimize downtime Complete daily reports, photos, and closeout documentation Follow jobsite safety requirements and maintain a clean work area
Required Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in low voltage, structured cabling, or network installation Hands-on experience with switch swaps, rack buildouts, or IDF/MDF work Solid understanding of copper termination, testing, and labeling standards Experience reading port maps, rack elevations, and project drawings Familiarity with cable testers such as Fluke DSX or similar Fiber termination and testing experience preferred BICSI Installer or Technician certification a plus OSHA 10 preferred Own hand tools and PPE Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Willing to travel to Sonoma as needed Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders Must pass a background check and drug screen
