About the role
Job Title: Translation Engineer
Job Location: Charlotte, NC
What you'll do:
Analyse, design, and implement network translations for voice migration projects Migrate trunks, traffic, signalling (SS7), routing, and numbering to SIP infrastructure Write MOPs, implementation scripts, test plans, and back-out plans Execute changes during maintenance windows and validate post-migration Troubleshoot legacy-to-SIP interactions during phased coexistence
What you need:
BS in CS/Telecom/Engineering or equivalent telecom/military experience Hands-on translations engineering in carrier-class voice networks Strong TDM switching knowledge — routing, trunking, signalling, screening, numbering Understanding of SIP architecture and TDM-to-SIP transition principlesSS7 concepts, MOP development, and change-management discipline Comfortable with PuTTY/Secure CRT, Word, Excel
Bonus:
Ribbon or Stratus platforms, circuit emulation, ISUP/Q.764/Q.931, Python/Perl scripting, switch decommissioning programs.
