About this role:
Working at the U.S. Women's Open Championship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Successful candidates will bring a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed. The ability to adapt, stay organized, and work effectively as part of a team is essential to the championship's success.
Interns will support the execution of a major championship and gain exposure to a variety of areas, including volunteer management, parking and transportation, community relations, and other championship-related functions. Specific assignments will be determined after the hiring process, based on the intern(s) interests and championship needs.
This role includes a combination of office and outdoor work. Interns should be prepared to perform physical tasks (lifting 50+ pounds) and to stand, walk, and work for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, sun, and rain. Interns can expect to work at least 40 hours per week, with hours gradually increasing to 60-80+ hours leading up to and during the championship, including weekends and holidays.
What you’ll do:
Volunteer Program
Support volunteer training and credential distribution, including training materials, handbooks, credential packets, and volunteer communications.
Serve as a primary contact for volunteer inquiries via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
Assist Committee Chairs with scheduling, site visits, and committee operations.
Manage volunteer apparel ordering, exchanges, and distribution.
Coordinate volunteer recognition and engagement initiatives throughout the championship.
Support volunteer area setup, operations, and teardown.
Championship Office
Support championship office operations, including answering phones, processing mail and shipments, maintaining supplies, and keeping workspaces organized.
Coordinate staff logistics, including meals, laundry, accommodations, rooming adjustments, and arrival/departure tracking.
Assist with staff, guest, and VIP communications, including preparation and distribution of credential and arrival materials.
Support meetings, receptions, and events through planning, scheduling, setup, and onsite execution.
Assist with the setup, organization, and teardown of championship offices, staff spaces, and support facilities.
Public Safety, Parking & Transportation
Support private security, parking, and transportation operations by coordinating with vendors and ensuring staffing and deployment plans are executed.
Assist with parking pass organization and distribution.
Coordinate the delivery, tracking, and return of equipment and resources for parking operations.
Support community and resident communications related to championship operations.
Assist with post-championship parking lot and transportation teardown activities.
Where you'll be:
This internship is based at Inverness Club in Toledo, OH. Housing will be provided for the duration of the position.
Pay:
$16.00/hr., subject to applicable overtime laws.

March 1, 2027, through June 2027
What you bring:
Ability to work long and strenuous hours (40 – 60+ hour work weeks)
Effective communication with a wide variety of individuals involved in a national championship
Resourceful, presentable, courteous, friendly, and organized
Good follow-up skills and ability to handle issues quickly and calmly
Ability to work independently and support the team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software – above average knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Publisher
Ability to prepare presentations to include Power Point and printed material
Willingness and ability to perform physical championship operations tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and safely operating tools, equipment, and championship vehicles as needed.
