About the role

Our client, a radioactive and hazardous waste management organization, is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join its senior leadership team in Richland, WA.This role is responsible for overseeing Facility Waste Acceptance, Special Projects, Laboratory Activities, Customer Services, and Project Management, while providing technical leadership across facility operations. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of waste acceptance criteria, facility operations, laboratory processes, regulatory compliance, and radioactive/hazardous waste management.
Key Responsibilities: Manage and supervise Facility Waste Acceptance, Special Projects, Laboratory Activities, Customer Services, and Project Management Ensure all waste shipments meet applicable Waste Acceptance Criteria Support inspection and sampling of incoming waste streams for profile verification Review laboratory data and support development of treatment recipes Provide technical direction to operations teams and customers Support permit and license renewals Partner with Sales on technical information, project scope, and cost proposals Develop and maintain SOPs within areas of responsibility Support continuous improvement initiatives and new process development Assist with the design and development of laboratory infrastructure, instrumentation, and procedures Support recruitment, training, and retention of laboratory employees Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders Ensure a safe and compliant working environment Required Background Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 10+ years of facility operations experience Strong knowledge of radioactive and hazardous waste management Knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, NRC, and DOT regulations Familiarity with disposal Waste Acceptance Criteria for organizations/facilities such as: Energy Solutions Waste Control SpecialistsUS Ecology Hanford Nevada Test Site Radiation Worker qualified 40-hour Hazardous Materials Training Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking/reporting systems Experience supporting technical operations, laboratories, permitting, and customer-facing projects Working Environment This position is primarily office-based with occasional work in industrial and field environments. The role may involve exposure to radiation, noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
