ICSC produces experiences that create connections and catalyze deals; aggressively advocates to shape public policy; develops high impact marketing and public relations that influence opinions; provides an enduring platform for professional success; and creates forward-thinking content with actionable insights — all of which drive industry innovation and growth.ICSC’s Commerce + Communities Today (C+CT) publication is looking for a hands-on digital editor to help produce, edit, publish and optimize editorial content across our website, newsletters and other digital platforms.This role is ideal for an editor who enjoys the full digital publishing process — not just editing stories, but making sure they are effectively packaged, published and distributed to their audience. Newsletter production, CMS publishing and story optimization are core parts of the position. The digital editor will work closely with the managing editor and editor-in-chief, take ownership of key publishing workflows, contribute editorial judgment and ideas across C+CT and support new editorial initiatives.This position is hybrid and based out of our New York City office, in-office days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.What You’ll DoOwn production and QA of four weekly C+CT newsletters and manage the monthly Insight newsletter from content compilation through approvalsEdit, optimize and publish stories in the CMS, including headlines, ledes, subheads, images, metadata, SEO/AEO elements, newsletter copy, CTAs and social copyApply strong editorial judgment to improve story structure, clarity, presentation and digital performanceDraft and edit news items and other editorial content as needed, with opportunities for occasional reporting and feature writingSupport sponsored content and advertising workflows, including editing, scheduling, approvals and performance reportingManage freelance writer contracts and related administrative workflowsContribute to new editorial initiatives, special projects and improvements to publishing processesCreate or prepare basic charts, tables, images and other visual assets as neededCore CompetenciesCollaborates – Works effectively within a collaborative team environment, demonstrating proactive communication, transparency, responsiveness and active engagement across projects and workflowsDrives Results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.Ensures Accountability – Takes ownership of work products and deliverables from development through final review, demonstrating reliability, follow-through and accountability for the quality and accuracy of outputsPlans and Aligns – Plans and prioritizes work to meet deadlines, coordinating multiple projects and recurring workflows while ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on scheduleWhat We’re Looking For5+ years of experience in journalism, digital editorial or publishingStrong writing, editing and proofreading skills and sound editorial judgmentHands-on experience publishing and formatting content in a CMSFamiliarity with SEO/AEO and digital content optimizationStrong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple recurring workflows and deadlinesHigh attention to detail, accuracy and follow-throughAn interest in digital publishing operations and in seeing content through from draft to distributionExperience with newsletters and email platforms such as Marketo Engage, B2B or trade journalism, sponsored content, analytics or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
