About the role
Automation Responsibilities:
- Program, monitor, and debug PLC logic, 3/6 axis robots, collaborative robots, vision systems, and motion controls.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and problem solving support throughout all areas of operations.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers to identify and help implement continuous improvement projects addressing manufacturing issues and/or cost savings opportunities.
- Markup electrical schematics for necessary changes and update electrical CAD file accordingly. Provide input on automation concepts as well as the design of the equipment
- Keep up to date on the latest automation technologies available to gain efficiencies and capabilities on current manufacturing processes.
- Quote automation for new and existing programs
- Work with outside automation houses on larger scale complex automation programs
Technical Support Responsibilities:
- Fasten components or parts together using hand tools.
- Analyze assembly schematics and specifications to plan, fabricate and assemble automation systems.
- Fasten and install fixtures, wiring and electrical components per schematics using applicable ANSI/OSHA/NFPA codes and regulations
- Set up and operate metalworking machines, such as milling and grinding machines, to machine or fabricate parts
- Troubleshoot during the debug stages of the automation build.
- Develop work instructions and manuals for automation equipment.
- Organize and maintain work area for efficient operation.
- Perform process and / or equipment trials via established EQ process validation techniques.
- Provide hands on support to manufacturing engineering projects.
- Support set-up and maintenance activities for a variety of assembly equipment, i.e., custom automation, ultrasonic welding, mechanical assembly, resistance welding, decorating, machining, and laser marking to name a few.

Preferred Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Two year technical degree in automation and/or 3-5 years related experience or equivalent.
Experience in custom manufacturing preferred.
Other Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Understanding of the fundamentals and theory of electronics along with electronic controls.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Work overtime as required to support production with automation equipment.
