About the role
Cloud Engineer I (Full Time, Contract; Remote - MUST BE BASED IN CHARLOTTE, NC)Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a Cloud Engineer I to support cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform operations. This individual will work alongside engineering and product teams to support and troubleshoot AWS environments, build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, develop Python scripts for platform automation, and monitor overall system health and reliability. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and Python, along with knowledge of AWS networking, cloud infrastructure management, Linux or Windows environments, and cybersecurity best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career Cloud Engineer looking to strengthen their cloud engineering and automation skills while gaining experience within a large-scale enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:
Support and troubleshoot AWS cloud infrastructure and resolve day-to-day platform issues. Develop Python scripts and automation to improve cloud operations and reduce manual tasks. Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices. Monitor cloud platform health, review alerts, and escalate complex issues when necessary. Support AWS networking and infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and connectivity. Perform routine maintenance, updates, patching, and platform upgrades across cloud environments. Collaborate with engineers, developers, and product teams to troubleshoot issues and improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance. Terraform / Infrastructure as Code – Experience building, deploying, or maintaining cloud infrastructure using Terraform. Python Scripting – Experience writing Python scripts for automation, cloud operations, or infrastructure tasks. AWS Networking – Knowledge of VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, DNS, and cloud connectivity. Cloud Automation – Experience automating deployments, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, or other operational tasks. Linux / Windows Administration – Experience supporting and troubleshooting Linux and/or Windows environments. Cloud Monitoring & Troubleshooting – Experience monitoring platform health, responding to alerts, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, and supporting cloud environments.
