About the role
Seeking a Engineering Technologist III to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a distributed energy resource management system. This role will focus on monitoring distributed energy resources, evaluating alarms and grid conditions, supporting dispatch activities, and assisting with the testing and onboarding of battery energy storage systems. The position will work closely with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, interconnection teams, and battery OEMs to validate communications, telemetry, controls, and system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor dashboards, alarms, communications, availability, telemetry, and grid conditions. Evaluate abnormal conditions and escalate issues according to established operating procedures. Prepare and execute approved dispatch, curtailment, charge, and discharge actions. Support testing and onboarding of battery energy storage systems and equipment. Coordinate testing schedules, prerequisites, test data, and readiness activities with OEMs and internal teams. Validate connectivity, telemetry, alarms, device data, command acknowledgements, and control functionality. Test battery charge/discharge functions, power controls, operating limits, ramp rates, communications loss response, and fail-safe operation. Document test results, defects, troubleshooting activities, and corrective actions. Monitor system interfaces, APIs, protocol gateways, and data feeds and coordinate issue resolution. Maintain accurate operational records, test documentation, configuration information, and shift logs. Support user acceptance testing, regression testing, system updates, and operational procedure development. Follow cybersecurity, access control, change management, and operational safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field, OR an Associate Degree with 4–6 years of relevant experience, OR 10–15 years of equivalent technical experience. Experience with utility operations, DERMS, SCADA, ADMS/DMS, energy storage, power systems, industrial controls, or systems integration. Understanding of electric distribution systems, distributed energy resources, battery storage, telemetry, alarms, and control systems. Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, technical procedures, test scripts, interface specifications, and system logs. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and coordination skills. Ability to work standard business hours.
