Headquartered in New York, we have national operations across the US, including DC, Boston & Florida.
We are seeking a high-level Senior IT Design Engineer to join our team.
Position Overview This senior-level role focuses on leading pre-sales support for sales and technical staff on large-scale design/build proposals. The ideal candidate must possess an advanced understanding of IT Structured Cabling systems, strong proficiency in CAD and Excel, and exceptional executive communication skills for interacting with internal leadership, key clients, and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop high-level rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) budgets and complete comprehensive sales proposals.
Partner with business units and client leadership to drive technology design discussions, evaluate complex network infrastructures, and deliver tailored technical solutions.
Spearhead the development of preliminary system design drawings, construction documents, technical specifications, and detailed cost estimates.
Produce and modify architectural plans and drawings in CAD to seamlessly integrate ICT infrastructure.
Oversee design engagements for AV and collaborate closely with senior design engineers across other technical disciplines.
Serve as the primary technical liaison with architects, MEP consultants, and trade contractors.
Maintain consistent client communication and present approved proposals to key decision-makers.
Collaborate with Program Managers and Engineering Teams to validate post-design system functionality.
Track emerging industry technologies and mentor junior/mid-level staff on pre- and post-sales lessons learned.
Accountability
Reports directly to the Executive Vice President / General Manager for the NYC region.
Qualifications
Certifications: BICSI certification (RCDD preferred) highly welcomed.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in IT pre-sales engineering and infrastructure design.
Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in CAD software and Excel, with deep domain expertise in IT Structured Cabling and low-voltage systems.
Core Competencies: Senior-level written and verbal communication, executive customer service skills, and a proven track record of managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
Work Style: Driven self-starter, highly organized, and capable of working autonomously while collaborating effectively with diverse teams.
Base Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 / year (based on experience and qualifications)
