Expected Responsibilities Our interns do not do busywork. You will be assigned to a specific, high-impact journalistic beat that shapes our editorial calendar. Your main responsibilities include:Narrative Reporting: Pitching, researching, and writing substantive, long-form narrative feature articles between 1,000 and 1,500 words. Structured Interviewing: Conducting professional interviews with high-profile national figures, authors, medical experts, or policymakers using our strict structural framework (the subject's life before the uniform, motivation for joining, active-duty operational roles, and current public contributions).Fact-Checking & Research: Performing rigorous background research, validating sources, and verifying quotes with interviewees before layout. Digital Newsroom Collaboration: Participating in remote editorial desk planning meetings and managing your writing schedule alongside editing teams. Minimum Requirements & Specific Skills Academic Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Journalism, Mass Communication, or related media program. Writing Ability: Strong narrative storytelling, advanced copy-editing instincts, and experience structuring feature-length writing. Professional Integrity: High attention to detail and strict adherence to objective journalistic ethics.
